Developing the Showtime Global Analytics Platform with Industry Giants Amazon Web Services and DNM Group

DNM Group caught up with our CEO Richie Power and CTO Paul Lynch about the collaboration, how the platform functions and how it sets up team Showtime for continued growth using AWS technology.

The data platform we developed at Showtime Analytics has historically been very successful for us and our clients. As we continue to grow, with global cinema clients around the world, it became apparent to us that we needed more flexibility and scalability for our platform. As a result, we joined forces with DNM in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to create a better, more efficient platform powered by AWS. 

The new platform is:

  • Elastic: meaning it scales up or down on-demand, allowing us to provide the exact same solutions for small and massive cinema chains alike.

  • Serverless: most of cinemas do the vast majority of their business in very small windows of the day. The rest of the time, there is very little processing power required. Serverless means AWS provide the capacity as we need it so we only pay for what we use. This helps drive the costs right down.

  • Reliable: there is a lot less infrastructure for us to manage, all now managed by AWS and DNM which makes the platform even more secure and flexible.
